Retailing a deceased equine.

On the 24th, Hyperion Entertainment announced that AmigaOS 4.0 was available, as a longtime AmigaOS fan, this is both great news, and a tragic reminder of just how far the platform has stumbled headlong into oblivion.

Observe :
"Availability of PowerPC hardware suitable for operation with Amiga OS 4.0 will be announced by third parties early 2007."

Why are they waiting for the announcement of hardware to run it on?
Well, it's primarily because the AmigaONE, which was the hardware it was intended for... isn't being made anymore.

And those that have been built?
Huge, vast swathes of them... no longer work, having failed prematurely in a horrific manner.

So, a long-hibernating platform is back... back with no hardware to run on, which I would argue is even worse than the previous situation.. which was hardware being available, but no AmigaOS to run on it, at least the three working AmigaONE's would run Linux okay.

And so, I'm sad to report that the Amiga is dead, long live zombimiga.
